Safe Software’s FME named “Data Integration Platform of the Year” in 2026 Data Breakthrough Awards program

Leading Market Intelligence Program Honours Innovation in Analytics, AI, DataOps and Next-Generation Data Technologies.

(Safe), the creator of FME, the only All-Data, Any-AI enterprise integration platform with true support for spatial data, today announced that FME has been selected as the winner of the “Data Integration Platform of the Year” award in the 7th annual Data Breakthrough Awards. The global awards program is conducted annually by Data Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global data technology market today.

The Data Breakthrough Awards program honours innovative companies & technologies transforming the data landscape. As the only All-Data, Any-AI enterprise integration platform, FME is unique in its field, serving over 20,000 organizations worldwide. Through its powerful no-code interface, FME democratizes data integration, turning everyday data into actionable insights and delivering unified integration for everything from LiDAR point clouds and cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs to complex BIM/CAD designs – data types representing 90% of enterprise information but inaccessible to most integration tools.

“Being recognized this way, after 32 years of working on this problem, is something I genuinely didn’t see coming, and that makes it all the more meaningful. When we started Safe Software, we simply wanted to help organizations do more with their data. What FME has grown into, and what our customers have built with it, is beyond anything we imagined,” said Don Murray, Co-founder and CEO of Safe Software.

Within the last year, innovations from FME include the launch of FME Data Virtualization, a solution which delivers data virtualization natively within the integration layer, eliminating separate API gateways and simplifying AI-ready data access through OpenAPI-compliant REST APIs. Additionally, Safe Software released FME Realize, bringing spatial computing to mobile teams through augmented reality, allowing utility workers and engineers to visualize and interact with digital twins in real-time using iOS devices or Apple Vision Pro. Most recently, Safe announced the availability of FME Remote Engines Service on Snowflake Marketplace, and the availability of FME Flow is in AWS Marketplace, as well as Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities that will be rolled out across the FME platform in the coming months.

“Safe Software redefines what’s possible when all data becomes accessible to any AI,” said Steve Johansson, Managing Director, Data Breakthrough. “FME transforms how organizations use their data to solve real-world challenges. From improving public services to managing infrastructure or accelerating operational efficiency, teams are using FME to modernize workflows and unlock smarter, more resilient outcomes. We’re pleased to award Safe with ‘Data Integration Platform of the Year.’”
