Safe Software Expands Data Integration Possibilities for Oil and Gas Industry

New TIBCO OpenSpirit Reader/Writer Added to FME 2010

Vancouver, BC, September 28, 2010 – Safe Software has added a TIBCO OpenSpirit Reader/Writer to FME 2010 that opens up new data integration possibilities for geotechnical applications and data. Now Oil & Gas organizations can tap into the power of FME's data transformation and sharing capabilities to move almost any GIS, CAD, exploration and production data both in and out of OpenSpirit-connected Oil & Gas applications and data stores. By enabling integration between OpenSpirit, the industry leader in geotechnical interoperability, and FME's extensive support for over 250 spatial and non-spatial data formats, Oil & Gas companies can extract more value from their data assets by more freely integrating and sharing information across platforms, disciplines and departments.

"Linking the transformation capabilities of FME with the integration capabilities of TIBCO OpenSpirit brings virtually unlimited potential to the spatial, geological and geophysical data workflows used by our mutual customers," said Dan Piette, Vice President of TIBCO OpenSpirit. "Users can now bring together information sources that in the past were difficult, if not impossible, to combine. The result is a seamless workflow and integration for improved planning, analysis and decision-making across the organization."

Introduced in response to customer requests and market feedback, FME's new OpenSpirit reader/writer enables FME users to leverage OpenSpirit data access to a number of data stores, including OpenWorks/Seisworks, GeoFrame/IESX/Charisma, Petra, PPDM, Managed SEG-Y, Finder, KINGDOM, EPOS/Geolog, SDE and Recall. The integration facilitates the exchange and manipulation of data across format boundaries, streamlining workflows and extracting more value from data assets.

"Adding OpenSpirit support is another example of Safe listening to our customers," says Dale Lutz, Vice President of Development at Safe. "These two products are a natural fit – and now users have a cross-spectrum solution which opens up a world of new possibilities to leverage existing data assets."

The OpenSpirit integration will be presented on Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 at the TIBCO OpenSpirit Technical Symposium in Houston, Texas. The OpenSpirit Reader/Writer is available now in FME Desktop 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3), with an ESRI or Intergraph Edition or higher. Download SP3 at www.safe.com/Downloads.
