Using FME to Transfer Park Asset Data From an Oracle Database to Trimble GPS Units and Back

The presentation will describe a series of workbenches that translate Park data for the City of Edmonton: The first workbench takes from an Oracle spatial database and creates Trimble SSF files by city neighbourhood so they can be loaded on the GPS units and taken into the field to be updated. The next workbench takes the Trimble SSF files and creates Access warehouses so the data can be cleaned. The third workbench simply combines multiple Access files together so the supervisor can do quality control over a complete neighbourhood. The fourth and fifth workbenches put the Access files back into the original Oracle database. The fourth one updates the pre-existing features and the fifth inserts any new features and asset condition information.
