FME for Geotechnical Applications

Geotechnical engineering uses principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics to investigate subsurface conditions and materials. Everyday work includes dam safety inspections, dam and tunnel designs, site investigations and water quality reporting. FME is used to transform a variety of types of data associated with these tasks. The purpose of this talk is to provide an overview of some of these workflows including: converting tabular data to 3D lines based on dip, depth and lithology information, applying graphical geology information as a texture on 3D features and generating catalogues of photos, notes and location information for dam safety inspections.
