Ordnance Survey
Ordnance Survey uses FME to implement a wide range of spatial data products.
The product development team, in particular, has recently used FME to deliver two projects. The first, a Gazetteer, allows emergency services customers to quickly locate access points to prominent spaces such as schools and airports. FME enabled the team to bring many data sources together, perform complex spatial tasks, and write out to numerous data formats. The second, a 3D model, allowed a customer to see what their data looked like in 3D space before work on a national data model was undertaken.
The rapid prototyping of new and improved projects that FME’s graphical user interface makes possible are key to Ordnance Survey being able to understand and respond to customer feedback and create ever more innovative products.
Ordnance Survey is the UK government agency responsible for the official, definitive topographic survey and mapping of Great Britain.
“All of these projects would not have been possible without the flexibility of FME and the endless possibilities it provides.” -- Baz Newman, Ordnance Survey
