Today’s release of FME 2014 SP4 marks the last service pack of FME 2014.

Now our sights are set on FME 2015, coming on January 15th (more on that at the end of this post).

What’s Included in FME 2014 SP4?

Like all FME service packs, SP4 includes bug fixes and performance improvements. And while it’s not as feature-laden as most FME service packs (see SP3, SP2, SP1), it still contains a few updates that may be of interest.

For the full list of updates, see the What’s New lists for FME Desktop 2014 SP4 and FME Server 2014 SP4.

GME Writer - Create Default LayerGoogle Maps Engine – Easier Map Creation

It’s now easier to send data to Google Maps Engine. Users can automatically create maps from the writer without going into the web interface – saving a lot of clicks.

JMS

Users leveraging JMS will be pleased – the JMSReceiver transformer now monitors messages from multiple queues. For one customer this has converted 20 workspaces into just one – a big improvement in workflow design and maintenance.

WebLogic

SP4’s improved support for the Oracle WebLogic Application Server provides a solid alternative to TomCat for users.

resource managementResource Files

You can now view resource files like log files right in the FME Server interface. Previously this required downloading the file and opening it in another application to view. Faster. Better.

FME 2015 (and Beyond)

Back in June, Don and Dale gave a sneak peek as to what’s coming in our next major release with their talk: FME 2015 and Beyond.

Watch below as they touch on IFC writing, SharePoint, MineCraft, a new FME Server interface, and more. What are you most looking forward to?

Can’t wait until January? Try out the beta (IFC writing, SharePoint, and MineCraft are all already in the beta). And if you do, be sure to give us your feedback.
