Wanted: Storytellers for 2014 FME User Events!

We’ve got a fantastic events schedule coming up in 2014. It’s Safe’s 20^th birthday – so in addition to our annual World Tour, we’ll be hosting the world in Vancouver for the first FME International User Conference in five years. In the timeless words of Barney Stinson, “It’s gonna be legen… wait for it… DARY!”

Now, if you’re reading this blog, there’s a good chance you’re an FME user. And if you’re an FME user, there’s a good chance that somewhere along the way, you’ve done something pretty interesting with FME.

Maybe you’ve designed a super-complicated workflow that does amazing things. Maybe you’ve been experimenting with the latest functionality, or formats, or data types. Maybe you saved a ton of time or money by automating something. Maybe you solved a tricky little annoying problem with it. Maybe you created a workspace that predicts football results with varying degrees of success.

Whatever it is that you’ve done, my job here today is to convince you to think about telling everyone else about it.

Submissions are open until February 5, 2014, and the North American leg of the World Tour runs throughout April – locations and dates are available now on the website. Here’s where we’ll be:

Maybe you’re thinking, “But I’m not a public speaker! It’s terrifying!”  I won’t disagree with you – it can be a bit scary at first. But what better place to start than one of these local events with like-minded, supportive FME users as your audience?

And now for the big event! June 10 – 13, in our home city of Vancouver, Canada – the FME International User Conference 2014! This is going to be mind-bogglingly excellent. We’re lining up a slate of keynote speakers from all over the industry that will peer into the future (stay tuned to the conference website for news on that), workshops, training, and most importantly, user presentations.

You can submit the same topic to both events, or different topics, even multiple topics. At the User Conference, we have 10 minute lightning talks, regular 20 minute plus Q&A talks, and an option for a double length talk – 50 minutes  plus Q&A. Plus accepted speakers at the UC will receive a 50% discount on conference registration (which you can combine with other promotions, like the super-early-bird two-for-one discount).
