Hardware Specifications

The following minimum system requirements are necessary to run FME Server:

  • at least 1GB of RAM
  • a hard disk with at least 2GB of free space - this does not include the space required to hold the source and destination data sets

Please Note: FME Server processing power is entirely scalable through the purchase and implementation of FME Engines.

Software Prerequisites

The following software prerequisites are required before installing FME Server:

  • Java Runtime Environment (also known as a Java Virtual Machine) version 1.5 or higher
  • Web Server
  • Java Servlet Engine (capable of running Java servlets using Java version 1.5 or higher)

Please Note: For evaluation purposes, Safe Software will only support Apache Tomcat as your java servlet engine. Other java servlet engines are supported for product installations.

Supported Formats

Any FME supported formats can be used by FME Server. Formats that require special licensing or applications for use with FME Desktop will have the same requirements with FME Server.

Output formats used by FME Server's Data Download service must result in a file or directory output. For online data streaming requirements, workspaces may need to be authored to write specific formats; for example, workspaces used by FME Server's OCG WFS service must use a GML writer.
