FME License Types
We offer flexible licensing options to help you best match your needs with your budget. Whether there will be three developers or a staff of 30 using FME Desktop, you can make sure that everyone gets exactly what they need.
Single-Fixed Licenses (or Node-Locked Licenses)
A single-fixed FME® license is designed to enable FME to work on a single specified computer. To install FME on a different computer, you must request a new license key.
Example: Two users in your team need to use FME. Each person has his own computer. Two single-fixed licenses are required.
Available for: FME Desktop
Note: This license type is not supported on Citrix systems or in situations where a mapped network drive is being used in place of a local C drive. See floating licenses.
Floating License (or Concurrent Licenses)
A floating license enables a number of concurrent users to simultaneously access a single FME deployment. FlexLM software is installed on a machine that acts as a license server by issuing a license to any client computer that requests one. If the number of user requests exceeds the number of floating licenses purchased, a user will need to wait until one of the active FME users closes FME on their computer so that the FME license is returned to the license server.
Example: Ten people need to use FME but only five people will likely need to be using the software at the same point in time. FME is installed on each user's computer. Any workstation can run FME, but only a maximum of five workstations can access FME at any one time. If a sixth person tries to use FME, he will have to wait until one of the first five users has finished using the application.
Available for: FME Desktop and FME Server
