The Role

As a GIS Software Tester, you will be central to Safe Software’s effort to maintain a very high quality standard for its products. You will be involved in working closely with development team members while performing manual testing, preparing test documentation and statistics reports, and filing defect reports. Based on your findings, you will help coordinate the defect resolution process and will be responsible for configuring and updating test environments. Together with the development teams and product management, you will help to ensure high quality projects are delivered on time.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have qualifications in both GIS and computer science.

  • Knowledge of fundamental GIS concepts
  • Experience with CAD and GIS products such as Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D, Bentley MicroStation. ESRI ArcGIS, Google Earth, Intergraph GeoMedia, MapInfo Professional, Microsoft Virtual Earth, and GE Smallworld.
  • Expertise on multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX or Mac OS X.
  • Familiarity with scripting and programming languages.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to help you get to the root of problems by gathering all the necessary technical information.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand the balance between working independently and relying on the expertise of others.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with spatial databases (Oracle Spatial, ArcSDE or Geodatabase) and SQL.
  • Experience in software testing or knowledge of software testing processes and methodology.
  • Previous programming experience.
  • Experience with automation and performance testing especially with SilkTest.
  • Experience with FME Workbench.
